Fibre reinforced external concrete slab, for new waste recycling facility, Wallsall, West Midlands

Level Best Concrete Flooring has recently been laying fibre reinforced concrete floor slabs in Wallsall for a new waste recycling facility on behalf of Wastecare Limited. The area measured over 25,000 square feet in total and the industrial concrete flooring contractor utilising laser controlled equipment carried out the casting of the slabs over 4 days in wide bay design and flood pour casting method. Each bay size was approximately 25 x 25 metres square and sawn induced joints were induced the following day to cater for thermal movement.

Level Best applied a textured surface finish to the concrete, using powerfloats instead of the more common brush finish. Creating this textured finish requires skill and patience, but leaves the client and end user a more robust and longer lasting anti slip finish to the concrete, which is visible from the photographs. Also when using powerfloats on the surface of the concrete, the surface becomes more densified and resistant to frost in comparison to more commonly seen concrete finishes.
