Level Best Concrete Flooring has recently completed the installation of a new external hardstanding on behalf of Tarmac Quarries in a remote part of North Yorkshire deep into the dales. The client required a tough and durable external concrete slab to enable further storage of equipment in this very demanding environment.
The industrial concrete flooring contractor selected a very strong concrete mix supplied by Readymixed Huddersfield Limited part of the Myers Group to provide a durable and long lasting concrete slab. The Level Best Concrete Flooring workforce utilised “ride on” powerfloats to create a “rough pan” texture to the finished surface, once the concrete had been laid and compacted. Great care had to be taken throughout the entire concreting process as the concrete plant was over an hour away from the site location. In fact the location was so remote the concreting staff had to coordinate deliveries via walkie talkies as there was no phone signal or wi fi within miles of the site.
The controlled saw cut shrinkage joints were installed at varying centres to allow the movement of the concrete floor slab to form as evenly as possible and to minimise the chance of any potential early age shrinkage cracking.
