Level Best Concrete Flooring the laser screed concrete flooring contractors based in Goole, Yorkshire completed this new concrete floor slab on behalf of Knauf at Immingham over a two day slab casting period. The client required a base for a temporary building to allow extra storage for their continual expansion. The slab was constructed with a perimeter foundation detail to withstand substantial loads from the column bases and self-weight of the building itself. Level Best working closely in conjunction with the main contractor devised a solution that worked for all parties in terms of design and programming.
To minimise disturbance of the well compacted sub base, Level Best utilised one of Chubby’s Concrete Pumping’s mobile concrete pumps to work in tandem with the industrial concrete flooring contractors Ligchine Laser Screed concrete floor laying and compacting machine. The laser screed weighing just over 2 tonnes and being operated via a remote control is the ideal concrete floor laying machine for such projects and also managed to lay the floor to a flatness tolerance of FM2 as per the Concrete Societies TR34 2013 edition, in conjunction with the experienced concrete flooring workforce.
Throughout the evening and into the flowing morning the Level Best Concrete Flooring finishing team, powerfloated the concrete floor slab until a highly polished was achieved. The slab was subsequently spray cured with a Sika Proseal curing agent, which not only minimises dusting of the concrete, but also seeps into the surface matrix to help densify.
Sawn induced joints were cut and sealed to protect the arriss edges and increase the lifespan and longevity of the floor joint itself.
With over 600m3 of Readymixed concrete supplied by the local Immingham plant of Tarmac Readymix over 2 casting days, the project went extremely well and Level Best are looking forward to discussing future concrete flooring projects with the customer.
