Industrial concrete flooring contractor Level Best Concrete Flooring Limited, has completed a new design and build cast insitu concrete floor slab in Watford, West London. The new warehouse concrete floor slab extension on Pulborough Way in Watford, was designed and constructed in conjunction with the latest clients loading requirements and the Concrete Societies TR34 2013 edition. Based on a single rack leg load of 100kN, with specific base plate sizes raking leg distance from joints, Level best designed a 200mm deep concrete floor with 1 layer of A193 steel fabric mesh.
The concrete was poured utilising the concrete flooring contractors Somero laser screed concrete floor laying machine and direct discharge of the readymix concrete supplied by the local Cemex readymix batching plant. Using the laser screed concrete flooring machine, Level Best were able to pour the concrete to the flatness tolerance of FM2 as per TR34 2013 edition. RCR Alpha construction joints were used to isolate the existing floor slab and form the ideal interface solution to cater for the deviation between floor levels. The joints offer full load transfer and allow the concrete flooring contractor to pour through the construction joint on the same days pouring, thus reducing costs for the client.
Following completion of the concrete floor powerfloating process, the floor was subsequently sealed using Sika Proseal dust inhibiting compound, floor sealer and surface densifier. Sawn induced joints were then cut and sealed using Sawcut Seal to help protect the edge of each joint under trafficking from forklifts etc. The concrete floor was completed and handed over on time to the client to allow Level Best Concrete Flooring to move onto their next concrete flooring project in Reading, Berkshire.
