This existing concrete floor slab on South Normanton industrial estate in Derbyshire required re-modelling due to the need for a mobile pallet racking system being installed for the forthcoming tenant of the building. Level Best Concrete Flooring was contracted to carry out the design, deconstruction and construction of the new floor slab detail to cater for the heavy loads generated from the mobile pallet racking system.
The design team at Level Best Concrete Flooring opted for a two layered system with loose re bar and mesh in the bottom of the slab and a steel fibre reinforced solution complete with dry shake topping for the top slab.
All of the concrete flooring reinstatement works were managed “in house” by Level Best Concrete Flooring including the full depth cutting of the concrete floors, removal of concrete slabs from site, installation of steel bars into the existing floors, mesh and steel fibre reinforcement integration and laying and power floating of high strength concrete.
In total 52 trenches were cut out and replaced, which took up almost one third of the 22,000m2 warehouse floor space. The works took 32 days to carry out in their entirety including all of the cleaning of the warehouse floor slab on completion of the concrete floor reinstatement works.
