Level Best Concrete Flooring has completed another large warehouse floor design and build project, this time for a new waste recycling plant in Washington, Tyne & Wear on behalf of Biffa Polymers.
The total area of 4,500m2 was cast over a 4 day period utilising the Somero laser screed and numerous “ride on” powerfloats. The floor was reinforced using Dramix steel fibres at a high dosage enabling the floor to become “jointless” and not require any saw cut joints which would potentially break down under heavy trafficking within the waste recycling factory itself. The construction joints installed within the floor by Level Best were of an extremely heavy duty design strength to cater for the dynamic loading requirements of the waste recycling client.
A dry shake topping manufactured and supplied by Sika (formerly Armorex) was applied evenly on this waste transfer station floor slab in the North-East using the Level Best topping spreader machine to ensure a consistent coating was applied to the floor and the subsequently incorporated via powerfloating into the surface to create an extremely tough, abrasive and impact resistant industrial warehouse floor slab. Spray applied curing agents were then applied to the surface of the waste recycling floor slab in Newcastle to ensure the concrete would not create dust into the atmosphere and leave a perfectly sealed and cured warehouse concrete floor finish.
