Level Best Concrete Flooring has recently completed the design and construction of the floor slabs for this new self-storage unit on Shepcote Lane in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. The extremely heavily loaded floor was constructed over a two day casting period utilising the Somero SRS 4 laser screed concrete floor laying machine. The floor slab design was extremely complicated due to the variable loading patter created by the multiple mezzanine leg loads. The floor design by Level Best incorporated to different types of floor reinforcement. Steel fibres were used as the primary reinforcement with a layer of A393 mesh in the top of the slab. Level Best Concrete Flooring specialises in the design and construction of these “jointless” combi slabs and has already installed thousands upon thousands of square metres using this floor slab design system. Once steel fibre slab jointless floor slab was installed a dry shake sprinkle topping was applied to the surface of the concrete floor slab using Level Bests topping spreader machine. The dry shake topping helps to surpass the steel fibres at the surface and also vastly increases the abrasion resistance of the concrete floor to improve longevity. The Level Best concrete finishing team worked around the clock to ensure a smooth powerfloated finish to the concrete and the floor easily achieved the flatness requirements of FM3 2013 edition of TR34.
