This new speculatively constructed warehouse development on the outskirts of Birmingham in Burntwood required high tolerance concrete floors to help let the industrial units to quality tenants. Level Best Concrete Flooring Ltd was contracted to design and construct the quality cast in situ concrete floor slabs to the flatness tolerance of FM2 as per TR34 2013 edition.
The initial works commenced on site installing the final layer of sub base material with Level Best utilising their own laser controlled sub base levelling machine along with roller compactors. Following this the columns were isolated and construction joints installed to allow the concrete pour in Burntwood to commence. With concrete supply from the local Tarmac batching plant at the rate of 24m3 per hour the Level Best Concrete Flooring team provided quality reinforced concrete floor slabs using the Somer laser screed concrete floor levelling and compacting machine. On completion of the concrete floor power floating the floors were sealed with a water based floor sealing agent which also acts as a dust inhibiting compound to the concrete floor surface. The next stage of the process is or the saw cut joints to be installed, which Level Best also carry out “in house” with their own floor sawing machines and Instant Seal product which seals the joints immediately upon completion of the joints. This Instant Seal joint sealant is unique in its profile and compound as it requires no curing time at all and can be trafficked immediately which is a big advantage both short and long term to the protection of the floor joints themselves as well as aesthetics.
