Level Best Concrete Flooring have commenced works on site at Daventry Rail Freight Terminal where the damaged concrete slabs are being removed and replaced. The concrete is being broken out onto sectons which fit into the concrete crusher and can be immediately turned into a suitable sub base to place beneath the new floors. This method of working not only saves time and costs, but also reduced vehicle movements on the terminal, which also reduced the contractors carbon footprint.
The new floors are poured using a high strength concrete with a microsilica additive which results in the concrete reaching compressive strengths in the region of 80/90n/mm2. This high strength concrete allows the terminal operator to traffic the slabs in 7 days, which is crucial to the operator in reducing downtime throughout the floor replacement works.
