Level Best Concrete Flooring has successfully delivered a complex design and build industrial warehouse concrete flooring project in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, reinforcing its expertise in heavy-duty structural slab construction.
Due to poor ground conditions on site combined with excessive end-user loadings, the warehouse floor required a pile-supported solution. Level Best designed and installed a suspended concrete floor slab supported on driven piles, ensuring long-term structural integrity and performance under demanding operational conditions.
The suspended slab incorporated extensive reinforcement and a robust 250mm deep concrete design, engineered to withstand high point loads and continuous industrial use. To achieve the specified performance and durability, Level Best pre-set four layers of steel fabric mesh reinforcement, carefully installed to meet the correct designed cover tolerances.
Concrete placement was carried out using concrete pumping techniques, allowing efficient installation across the slab area. The slab was levelled and compacted to FM2 tolerance using a combination of advanced methods, including a Somero Hammerhead mobile laser screed. This approach ensured exceptional flatness and accuracy, essential for modern industrial warehouse operations.
A full powerfloat sealed finish was applied, providing a hard-wearing, low-maintenance surface tailored to the end-user’s operational requirements. The finished warehouse floor delivers both performance and durability, suitable for heavy traffic, materials handling equipment and long-term industrial use.
