Project – Internal and external concrete floor slabs for new industrial units, Melmerby Industrial Estate, Ripon
Client – Potter Space
Floor Design – JPG
Construction Method – Laser screed internal floor slabs, hand-lay and mobile pump external slabs
Concrete Supplier – Low Grange Quarry
The laser controlled sub base levelling took a total of two days to complete and a perimeter thickening was required to allow for the insulation detail. Column surrounds were installed to minimise shrinkage cracking, steel permanent joints were installed as “day joints” with a galvanised joint at the internal/external access door location. These two new warehouse units totalling 3,000m2 were both cast over one day each. The concrete flooring contractors Somero laser screed comfortably laid the concrete to extremely accurate flatness tolerances in conjunction with skilled workforce. External hard standings were laid in traditional bay sizes utilising a mobile concrete pump.
The internal cast insitu concrete slabs were 200mm in depth and reinforced with 1 layer of A193 “bottom mesh”. Externally the slabs were 175mm in depth and reinforced with 1 layer of A252 “top mesh” and finished with a brush surface and trowelled edge margins.
The client was very pleased with the end product.
