Yorkshire-based industrial concrete flooring specialist Level Best Concrete Flooring has completed the full design, supply and construction of the internal concrete floor slabs for a four unit development in Minworth, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands. The works were completed on behalf of Chancerygate, the UK’s largest and most active multi-unit speculative industrial developer. The works were also completed on behalf of a repeat Midlands-based contractor who Level Best are also working on a project in Exeter with.
This multi-unit development in the West Midlands was a further opportunity for Level Best to showcase their full industrial concrete flooring design and build services, with their full array of the latest modern concrete flooring technology on show throughout the month long scheme.
Works commenced in the first of the four units with the laser-controlled levelling and compacting of the final layer of subbase stone utilising the Bobcat subbase leveller. This machine gets the subbase to within a highly accurate tolerance, providing an ideal platform for gas membrane and slab installation and performance. As is always the case with Level Best’s delivery team, they agreed to undertaking the specialist gas membrane works in conjunction with the stone levelling and slab installation. All anti-crack column details and galvanised steel joint doorway details were installed prior to concreting works.
Once preparation works were complete, Level Best commenced with the industrial slab installation utilising the Somero levelling and compacting laser screed machine. The slab was given a full powerfloat finish incorporating a dust proofing curing and sealing solution. Sawn induced joints were installed on a regular grid as per Level Best’s floor slab design and instantly sealed utilising Level Best’s revolutionary instant seal product.
Whilst the slab installation works were taking place in the first unit, Level Best’s slab preparation team were working simultaneously in the next unit preparing for the subsequent slab install. This method of working allows a fully seamless programme accommodating contractor and developer requirements in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands. This sequential and simultaneous method of working is ideal given the shortage of high quality speculative industrial space in the UK market place.
Level Best Concrete Flooring now move onto their next project in Corby, Northamptonshire. The flooring experts will be mobilising from the West Midlands to carry out the slab installation works for a major cold store contract on behalf of a European cold store expert.
