Industrial concrete flooring specialists Level Best Concrete Flooring were contracted to carry out the design and construction of ground and first floor slabs as part of a new speculative industrial development in Frimley near Guildford, Surrey. This contract was an opportunity for Yorkshire-based Level Best to demonstrate their full design and build services for another new North-East-based Client and industrial Developer.
Level Best’s Subbase Levelling Team worked in advance of the subsequent concreting works blinding and closing the final regulating layer of finer stone to a highly-accurate +0/- 5mm tolerance. The complete subbase levelling service is carried out inhouse by Level Best, ensuring that the slab is constructed on a level, compact and flat platform increasing short and long term slab performance.
The Subbase Levelling Team work in conjunction with the Slab Preparation Team who are responsible for installing-crack column isolation details, slab isolation details and galvanised construction joint installation all as per Level Best’s floor slab design and drawings.
This C40 175mm deep industrial warehouse concrete floor was compacted and levelled with Level Best’s largest laser screed machine to a FM1 surface tolerance as per TR34 4th Edition. Level Best also had their newest Somero SRS-4 laser screed onsite on standby should anything happen to the operating laser screed. This setup allows the industrial concrete flooring specialist to guarantee high-tolerances on difficult sites in remote locations such as Frimley, Surrey.
The warehouse floor slab, totalling 4,000m², was constructed over three subsequent days. All three Panels were given a powerfloat surface finish incorporating a solvent-based curing agent curing and sealing solution and sawn induced contraction joints were subsequently installed by Level Best’s experienced saw-cutting operatives. Instant joint sealant was installed during the saw-cutting process.
