Level Best Concrete Flooring, the Yorkshire based industrial flooring contractor, have designed and constructed this 15,000m2 speculative warehouse development in Lichfield, Staffordshire in just 10 casting days. The floor was supposed to be constructed to the flatness tolerance of FM2 as per the Concrete Societies TR34 2013 edition, however most of the floor has actually achieved the tolerance of FM1.

The initial warehouse concrete flooring works began with the laser controlled sub base levelling of the final 50mm of quarried stone to the level tolerance of +0/-10mm from datum. Following these works Level Best’s joint installation team installed 600 linear metres of steel profile construction joint to form the main day joints within the floor and also isolate the loading dock leveller pits. Other preparation elements were carried out as steel columns were isolated from the main slab and wall protection installed around the full perimeter.

The Level Best Concrete Flooring team then commenced the floor laying process utilising the two laser screeds at the same time. The screeding operation worked in conjunction with an excellent service from Cemex’s local Lichfield ready-mixed batching plant. An independent floor surveyor was employed by Level Best to ensure floor levels and detailing were as precise as precise can be.

The Level Best finishing team powerfloated the warehouse floors leaving a perfect floor surface finish, which was subsequently spray cured with a membrane upon completion.

The client is extremely happy with the full execution of the project, including the minimal snagging items left from pouring vast amounts of concrete in such short periods of time.
