Yorkshire-based industrial concrete flooring contractor Level Best Concrete Flooring has successfully completed a large industrial development on Christopher Martin Road in Basildon, Essex on behalf of a brand new Client and repeat building Contractor.
The development involved the design and construction of a 70,000 square foot warehouse concrete floor purpose built for industrial, logistics and distribution purposes to meet increasing demand in the Essex County, Kent and Greater London for high-quality, high-specification warehousing space.
Level Best’s duration onsite was approximately three weeks. Onsite scope of commenced with the highly-accurate laser-guided levelling and compacting of the final regulating layer of subbase. This precise process was carried out prior to the installation of a gas membrane to characteristic situation two to meet the site’s gas requirements, as part of the wider planning Essex County application. Level Best then supplied and installed approximately 1,000 cubic metres of concrete over five consecutive days utilising the latest innovative laser screed concrete flooring technology as seen below. The industrial slab was constructed to FM2 as per TR34 4th Edition suitable for logistics and warehouse racking. The slab was given a full powerfloat surface finish incorporating a curing and sealing agent. Sawn joints were introduced into the slab as per Level Best’s floor slab design and subsequently sealed through Level Best’s innovative instant seal system.
This project was also another opportunity for Level Best to provide a high performance high abrasion resistance concrete flooring solution. This followed a similar process to a high abrasion resistance industrial concrete floor slab Level Best provided in Wakefield, West Yorkshire earlier this summer. In both situations the Client had a requirement for a highly abrasive floor slab. Level Best put forward a product new to the UK market which guarantees the achievement of high abrasion resistance without the need to apply a dry-shake topping and the associated risks of delamination. The product also has additional benefits such as aiding the powerfloating process and reducing crazing.
