Jointless steel fibre reinforced floor slab in Wath Upon Dearne, South Yorkshire

Level Best Concrete Flooring, the Goole-based industrial concrete flooring contractor, has designed and installed a steel fibre reinforced concrete floor on an industrial estate near Barnsley in South Yorkshire.

The concrete floor slab was designed 225mm in depth and reinforced with 30kg per cubic metre of Dramix steel fibres. A dry-shake topping was applied to the surface of the concrete using the new topping spreader at a dosage of 4kg/m2 to suppress the steel fibres at the surface and to increase the abrasion resistance of the floor.

Once the sub base had been laser levelled by Level Best, heavy duty steel Signature joints were installed as the main construction joints throughout the warehouse – these joints are very tough and capable of withstanding heavy traffic movements and point loads from the large forklifts in operation.

The steel fibre reinforced concrete floor was laid over four consecutive days utilising the concrete flooring contractors Somero laser screed machine. On completion of the internal floor, Level Best went on to lay the external concrete slabs, which were flood poured via a mobile concrete pump.
