Large warehouse concrete flooring in Forfar, Dundee, Scotland

This new warehouse at Edzell on the outskirts of Dundee required a 250mm deep reinforced cast insitu concrete floor slab to be constructed to the tolerance of FM2 as per TR34 2013 edition. Level Best Concrete Flooring, the Yorkshire based industrial concrete flooring contractor, installed the floor which totalled 10,000m² in size over a 6-day casting period.

The final regulating layer of 50mm type 1 hardcore was trimmed using the companies own laser controlled sub base levelling machine in 5 continuous working days. The construction joint installation team then started two days in advance of the concrete pours installing the steel armoured construction and day joints prior to the concrete floor laying process. Level Best used their Ligchine laser screed to install the floors to the flatness tolerance of FM2 in conjunction with the flooring contractors highly skilled finishing teams. Three teams of concrete finishers worked simultaneously throughout the day and night to complete the concrete pours on schedule using the new hybrid gas and petrol powered “ride-on” power trowels.

Each day the concrete finishing teams were still on site whilst the concrete floor laying team began the following days concrete pour. The sawn induced joint installation team were also inducing the joints to shrinkage of the floor and subsequently sealing them with joint sealant. The full resources from one of the Level Best concrete flooring teams were on site providing the client with a specification-compliant, high quality floor slab that was constructed without any problems.
