Yorkshire-based concrete flooring specialist Level Best Concrete Flooring has recently carried out the full design, supply and construction of two concrete floor slabs as part of the development of two new industrial units in Harworth near Doncaster, South Yorkshire. During the construction phase one of the units was let by the UK’s largest trade kitchen supplier, showcasing the seemingly increasing demand for high-quality industrial and warehouse space in the Yorkshire region.
Level Best Concrete Flooring pride themselves on repeat custom and this scheme backed up the company’s constant strive for quality delivery and product. This project was Level Best’s second for a new client following the successful completion of a similar speculative development in the heart of Doncaster, South Yorkshire earlier in the year. Level Best hope and expect the working relationship to continue for many more years.
The floor slab scope of works in South Yorkshire started with Level Best’s typical column isolation and anti-crack re-entrant details. The slab preparation team also erected galvanised permanent steel armoured joints in the level access doorways, providing a solid transition detail between internal and external slabs, the most highly trafficked location of an industrial warehouse.
The following day once the preparation works were installed and quality assurance complete, 150 cubic metres of C40 ready-mixed concrete started arriving from Cemex’s local Finningley Doncaster plant. The concrete was levelled and compacted by one of Level Best’s five industry-leading laser screed industrial concrete floor laying machines. The slab was given a full powerfloat finish with expansion joints installed on a regular grid and subsequently sealed with an instant seal product.
