Removal and replacement of a warehouse concrete floor slab in Louth, Lincolnshire, by Level Best Concrete Flooring

Level Best Concrete Flooring has recently carried out the removal and replacement of an existing concrete slab in order to allow the installation of new machine in a live factory on the outskirts of Louth in Lincolnshire. The concrete floor removal and replacement was particularly time sensitive as the client had the machine ready to install with orders for their products, already stacking up. The Level Best Concrete Flooring team had to work throughout the weekends to ensure that the critical concrete flooring items were completed on time.

Once the existing slabs had been removed, the Level Best set up team began preparing the perimeter of the base, compacting the stone sub grade and installing the intricate shutter detail, which had to be precisely installed to allow the clients machinery to fit neatly without and gaps. On completion of this the readymixed concrete supplied by the local Cemex plant in Louth was installed, utilising a mobile concrete pump and hand laying techniques by the concrete flooring team. The concrete was subsequently powerfloated by the finishing team, using the Wacker Neusson “ride on” power floats. The “ride on” powerfloats quickly allowed Level Best to control the extremely fast setting high strength concrete, which was required due to the client needing access to the floor slab area, 48 hours from constructing. The floors were spray cured on completion with Sika curing agent to ensure the moisture was retained at the surface of the slab to minimise crazing and early age shrinkage cracking.
