Level Best Concrete Flooring the industrial concrete flooring contractors offering a truly nationwide service has recently completed the construction of a new high tolerance warehouse concrete floor slab in Ilkeston, which can be seen running parallel with the M1 north bound motorway.
Suppliers and material used on this project were as follows:
- Sub base levelling material Type 1 – Tarmac
- Reinforcement – A252 steel fabric – Roe Group
- Permanent steel joints – Permaban Alpha Classic
- Readymixed concrete – Breedon Aggregates
- Dry shake topping – Permaban Qualitop Millenium in light grey
- Curing agent – Sika Proseal
- Joint sealant – Sawcut Seal (Level Best)
The warehouse was circa 18,000 square feet in size and Level Best carried out the entire works, including the sub base levelling over a 5 consecutive day period, including the initial laser controlled levelling and compacting of the final regulating layer of sub base material. The concrete was laid utilising a mobile concrete pump as two layers of reinforcement were required to cater for the extreme loading requirements of the client. A dry shake sprinkle topping and surface hardener was also applied to the surface and subsequently powerfloated into the concrete to provide a light grey colour and also increase the surface abrasion resistance to the category “special” as per British Standards in TR34. Sawn induced joints were installed and then sealed using Level Best’s own Sawcut Seal product, which requires no curing time at all.
