External concrete floor slabs for new waste recycling facility, Nottingham

Level Best Concrete Flooring the Yorkshire based industrial concrete flooring contractors has constructed a 180mm deep fibre reinforced concrete floor slab at an existing waste recycling facility based in Nottingham. The fibre reinforced slab was manually laid to multiple falls by the skilled concrete flooring team. The fibre reinforced concrete needed a rough texture at the surface of the floor to allow the large loading shovels and skip trucks to traffic the concrete slabs safely. The Level Best finishing teams worked throughout the night shift to create this textured anti slip surface finish using both hand held and “ride on” powerfloating equipment.

To cater for the cold weather, the clients programme and the ever increasing workload of Level Best, the external concrete slabs had to be completed over the weekend. This meant that Breedon Group had to supply the 200m3 of readymixed concrete required per day, without any interruptions to the regularity of the concrete deliveries. Concrete for waste recycling facilities needs to be extremely durable as the environment is very aggressive to the concrete surface. Level Best Concrete Flooring and the client agreed on a C50 mix with 20% blended cement to allow the concrete to out last and mix of less durability.

Sawn induced joints were cut the following day the subsequently sealed with Level Best Saw cut seal the joint sealant with instantly seals the joints and protects the edges from rapid breakdown.

The next waste concrete floor slabs for a waste recycling facility to which Level Best will be constructing are in the Channel Islands in Guernsey, but in the meantime if you would like further information on this waste recycling centre in Nottingham, then please call one of our estimating team on 01405 819199 or simply email us at enquiries@levelbestconcreteflooring.co.uk
