Industrial concrete flooring contractors complete design and build warehouse concrete floor slab, Reading, Berkshire

Level Best Concrete Flooring the Yorkshire based industrial concrete flooring contractor has recently designed and constructed a 160mm deep steel fabric reinforced cast insitu concrete floor slab in Reading, Berkshire. The total area of 3,000m2 was laid utilising the Ligchine laser screed concrete floor levelling and compacting machine over a 2 day slab casting period.
Initial floor preparation works began with the isolation of the steel column surround detail and the final trimming layer of the sub base working platform. The sub base was laid and compacted using a laser controlled sub base levelling machine, telehandler and vibrating roller. With this machinery extremely tight tolerances and level control can be achieved.
On completion of the floor preparation the concrete flooring team began laying the Readymixed concrete supplied by the Breedon Group to the required flatness tolerances as per TR34 2013 edition. The steel fabric mesh reinforcement was laid in front of the laser screed concrete flooring machine on a “just in time” basis and supported on concrete support chairs. Whilst this concrete floor laying process was in operation, the industrial concrete flooring contractors concrete finishing team were incorporating a dry shake topping surface hardener to the surface of the powerfloated concrete. The dry shake topping bonds to the concrete in order to provide an extremely tough and abrasive surface, which is important to the end user in heavily used warehouses. On completion of the slab surface finishing and powerfloating, the contraction joints were induced at designed centres to suit the clients racking layout configuration. The sawn induced joints were subsequently sealed using the concreting contractors Sawcut Seal joint sealant product.
