This new retail park in Sheldon, Solihull, Birmingham in the West Midlands had tenants lined up to take possession of the new buildings. Level Best Concrete Flooring the industrial and commercial concrete flooring contractors from Yorkshire was contracted by the main contractor to carry out the design and construction of the internal ground bearing cast insitu concrete floor slabs. The total area of circa 6,000m2 was carried out over 6 consecutive working days from the initial laser controlled sub base levelling, steel fabric mesh and joint installation to the laser screeding and polishing of the finished concrete floor slabs.
Due to the nature of the concrete laying and levelling, Level Best selected their Somero S940 laser screed concrete levelling machine to use in conjunction with a mobile concrete pump. The concrete pour daily volumes ranged between 220m3 to 260m3 per day over a 3 day period and the competent concreting team and cutting edge concrete flooring equipment easily managed to achieve the quality standards and flatness tolerances required by the main contractor and client.
Sawn induced joint locations had to be carefully marked out to suit the tenants individual “fit out” requirements and terrazzo tile layouts. The sawn induced joints were sealed on completion by Level Best using the “Sawcut Seal” joint layout system. The construction drawing provided by the Level Best design team was drawn to the millimetre to ensure smooth handover from contractor to each tenant.
