Level Best Concrete Flooring, Yorkshire’s premier flooring contractor based in Goole East Yorkshire, have supplied and installed the cast insitu industrial-grade concrete floor slab for this warehouse extension and development in Thirsk, North Yorkshire.
Level Best’s sub base preparation team arrived at site in advance of the slab preparation team to carry out the final trim of the sub base, ensuring that a +/-15mm tolerance was comfortably achieved and overuse of concrete was avoided. Level Best’s slab preparation then installed anti-crack column encasements and pre-set all permanent steel joint at doorways to aid load transfer.
1200g polythene membrane and A193 steel fabric reinforcing mesh was placed on a “just in time” progressive basis in front of the C40 ready-mixed concrete arriving from Tarmac’s Boroughbridge batching plant. The concrete, whilst in it’s plastic state, was compacted and levelled by Level Best’s state of the art laser screed and experienced slab installation team.
The concrete was powerfloat finished and a dust-proofing curing agent was spray applied to the surface to assist with the curing process. The following day saw cut induced contraction joints were installed into the cured slab to prevent cracking and aid shrinkage in a controlled manner.
