Yorkshire-based industrial concrete flooring specialist Level Best Concrete Flooring has recently undertaken the design and construction of a 3,300m² speculative industrial development in Doncaster, South Yorkshire on behalf of a new client. This contract was an opportunity for Level Best to showcase their all-encompassing design and build services closer to home, with recent contracts taking the industrial concrete flooring specialist from Dartford in London to Exeter and Paignton in the Southwest.
Level Best designed the floor slab to be C32/40 175mm thick with a single layer of steel fabric reinforcing mesh situated in the bottom of the slab. An excellent ready-mix concrete supply of approximately 300m³ per day from Tarmac out of their Doncaster batching plant allowed Level Best to construct this industrial concrete floor over two consecutive days. The ready-mixed concrete was levelled and compacted utilising Somero modern laser screed technology to a flatness tolerance of FM2 as per TR34 4th Edition.
The slab was given a full powerfloat finish incorporating a dust-proofing curing and sealing agent. Sawn induced joints were installed on a regular grid in accordance with TR34 recommendations. All sawn joints were instantly sealed using Level Best’s instant saw cut seal, a system which instantly seals joints prior to practical completion providing arris protection and preventing debris build-up.
